Fennig Barkhollow - Tanner of Lyreleaf
Every satchel, boot, and saddle in Lyreleaf passes through Fennig Barkhollow's tannery -- the gnome craftsman whose patient, oak-bark leather has outlasted three decades of travelers on the Saltspray Swamp road.
Introduction
Follow the winding path south out of Lyreleaf's herb-fragrant commons, past the alchemical gardens and flowering cottage plots, toward the road that runs down to Saltspray Swamp, and the village's sweet green smell gives way to something sharper: oak bark, vinegar, and warm hide. That's Fennig Barkhollow's tannery, the modest timber-and-stone workshop that has outfitted half of Lyreleaf's boots, satchels, and saddle leather for going on thirty years. He'll barely look up from his scraping frame when you walk in. He already knows why you're there.
Profile
Name: Fennig Barkhollow
Race: Gnome
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral Good
Role/Class: Tanner & Leatherworker, proprietor of Lyreleaf's tannery
Challenge Rating: 1/4
"Good leather remembers every season it took to cure. Rush it, and it remembers that too."
Appearance: Fennig is a stocky, broad-handed gnome with forearms more muscled than his height would suggest, the product of decades spent working hides taut over a scraping frame. His skin carries a permanent faint tan from years of sun and tannin, and his fingernails never quite lose their brown stain no matter how hard he scrubs before a festival. He wears a heavy, oil-dark leather apron over plain homespun, its pockets worn soft from constant use, and keeps a stub of chalk behind one ear for marking measurements on hide he hasn't cut yet. His beard is short and practical, trimmed close so it never catches in his tools.
