Introduction
Edgewood Garrison's pennants can tell Brightcrown that something happened. They can't explain what, how badly, or what's needed next — that part still has to travel the old-fashioned way, sealed in a dispatch case, strapped to a pony, and ridden hard down roads that have gotten a great deal less safe lately. Nella Lightfoot has that job, and she has never once been late by choice.

Appearance: Small, wiry, and perpetually road-dusted, Nella wears a snug traveling cloak with a hood built for weather rather than fashion, and boots resoled more times than she can count. A stiff leather dispatch case rides at her hip, sealed with Edgewood's wax stamp, and a set of throwing knives are tucked into a bandolier across her chest — more for the wildlife than for people, though she's used them on both. She's rarely still for long; even standing at the garrison gate, she tends to shift her weight like she's already thinking about the road.
