Wendell Longbarrow - Village Elder of Lyreleaf
No throne, no garrison, no seal of its own -- just a halfling elder named Wendell Longbarrow, who has kept Lyreleaf self-governed and safely beneath Brightcrown's notice for six careful years.
Introduction
Lyreleaf has no keep, no garrison, and no seal of its own — just a council of elders who meet in whichever cottage has the largest table free that week, and a halfling who has chaired that table for going on six years. Wendell Longbarrow doesn't rule Lyreleaf so much as hold it together, one settled argument and one carefully worded report to Brightcrown at a time. When the tax assessors come up the Haltcross road twice a year, it's his door they knock on first.

"A village this size doesn't need a throne. It needs someone willing to sit through every argument until it's actually settled."
Appearance: Wendell is a solidly built halfling in his middle years, silver already threading through his sandy hair, with the calm, patient face of someone who has learned not to react too quickly to bad news. He dresses plainly but neatly, favoring a green wool coat with the village's simple oakleaf sigil stitched at the collar, and carries a slim leather folio everywhere he goes, stuffed with harvest tallies, correspondence, and whatever dispute needs settling that day. His hands are steady, and his voice rarely rises, even when the room around him hasn't caught up to his composure yet.
