Underbough Soles is a warm and welcoming cobbler’s shop nestled along the cobbled main road, its rounded workshop framed with finely carved woodwork and shelves brimming with shoes, boots, and sandals of every kind.
The air carries the scent of tanned leather and beeswax polish, and the faint rhythmic tapping of a cobbler’s hammer marks Tobin Underbough’s steady work. The central workspace is meticulously kept, yet lived-in—a bench scattered with tools, swatches of leather, and bits of enchanted thread waiting to be woven into a new sole or quietly removed from an old one.
Behind the front room lies the circular backroom workshop, where Tobin spends most of his time. Here, finished footwear lines the walls in neat rows, while worktables and cushioned benches offer space for fittings, repairs, and commissions. In one tucked-away corner, a small cabinet holds “special orders”—strange shoes with curious features: metal-tipped soles, silent treads, boots that never muddy. The room exudes the charm of a humble craftsman’s shop, but careful eyes might note its potential as a place for whispered exchanges or hidden deals.

In combat or chase scenes, the narrow pathways between shelves, the central table, and the bottleneck entrance make for tactical movement challenges. Adventurers could find themselves defending Tobin from would-be thieves, pursuing a suspect through the shop and into the streets, or attempting to apprehend a villain before they vanish through the back door. For investigative sessions, the “odd requests” storage in the backroom may hold the key to unlocking a mystery.
