Collapsed Channel Crossing

Collapsed Channel Crossing

The Collapsed Channel Crossing is what’s left of a once-reliable trade cut-through

Rich

The channel crossing is now just a shallow, jade-green runnel chewing at broken peat banks and strewn with half-sunk stones, driftwood, and drowned brush. Two shattered plank spans—one near the upper bend and another farther downstream—hint at a route that used to be simple, but is now a slow, careful negotiation of gaps, slick boards, and uneven footing. The water’s surface is alive with swirling currents and pale foam-lines that curl around rocks like warning signs written in motion.

On both sides, the banks rise into muddy, cracked earth littered with boulders, root-tangles, and dense vegetation—thick shrubs, reed clumps, and low growth that creates pockets of concealment. Wisps of mist drift across the channel in shifting patches, blurring sightlines at the worst possible moments and turning the crossing into a place where shapes move wrong and distances lie. The whole scene feels prepared—not maintained, but managed—as if someone expects trouble here and has learned how to vanish into it.

Intended Use:

This map shines as a tactical choke point where movement matters: a crossing that naturally compresses a party into lanes and decisions—take the broken planks, wade through difficult terrain, or hop stone-to-stone while exposed. It’s ideal for ambushes, toll shakedowns, and “you can’t go around” confrontations, especially when you want the environment to be as threatening as the opposition. The mist and reeds let hidden enemies reposition, retreat, and reappear, while the channel itself splits the battlefield into messy, reactive zones.
