Father Halvor Drift — Hearth Priest

Father Halvor Drift — Hearth Priest

“Fire remembers us when we remember each other—stand close, breathe slow.”

Rich

Name: Father Halvor Drift
Race: Human
Role: : Hearth Priest & Winter Rite Keeper
Appearance: Halvor is a broad-shouldered man in his late fifties with wind-creased features, a salt-and-iron beard braided close, and kind slate eyes that brighten at lamplight. His winter-brown hair is cut short to fit a fur-lined cowl. He wears a quilted under-robe beneath a charcoal wool cassock trimmed in white and ember red; over it hangs a seal-lined mantle stitched with a snowflake-and-flame sigil. A brass travel thurible and tinder kit ride his belt beside a well-thumbed prayerbook wrapped in oiled leather. In the cold, a gentle vapor seems to halo his breath like the first warmth off a brazier.

Backstory

Born to barge hands along the lower Verdant Weald rivers, Halvor learned early that a steady flame calms a fearful crew. He walked north after a killing freeze took three families in Frosthold, swearing that the town’s winter rites would be more than pageantry. From the Hearth Temple and the Winter Rite Circle, he keeps the civic braziers burning, sanctifies storm shelters, and leads the Night of Clear Names when the memorial cairns are read at the North Edge. He counsels Varrik on hard calls, works with Brinya to steady crowds during after-curfew crushes, blesses Kethra’s medicine sleds, and partners with Luma for rites that blend reverence with joy. Halvor’s theology is simple and practical: warmth shared is worship given.
