Role in Its Society:

Irdryth rules a glacier-hollowed fortress called the Hunger Dome—a cathedral of blue ice whose tunnels open onto a frozen sound. She is not a subtle schemer; she is conquest made cold. White guard drakes prowl her galleries; ice mephits whisper through vents and freeze locks; ogres haul tribute; human berserkers—drugged on wyrmchill—serve as fanatical shock troops. Nearby clans call her reign the Year of No Thaw: hunts rerouted, cairns plundered for metal, and any fire seen after dark “taxed” by talon. To lesser predators she’s an ecological catastrophe; to mortals, a winter that thinks.

Appearance Description:

A vast, low-slung dragon of alabaster scales with glacial-blue undertones. Jagged horn-crowns rake back over a wedge skull, and a mane of frost-spines trails her neck. The belly scales are milky and scarred with sun-crack lines; along the flanks, old spear heads lie frozen under a glass-thin layer of ice, trophies fused into flesh. Her breath smells like crushed snow and metal. One foreclaw is fitted with a crude iron spur—a reminder of the giant who dared and died.

Backstory:

Born under a sky of bright white stars, Irdryth learned hunger first and law second. She drove a remorhaz from a calving field at two winters and claimed the hollowed berg. When a frost giant jarl tried to collar her with runed chains, she lured him onto black ice and let the sea drink him. The chains remain, fused into her throne. In later years she discovered that fear outlasts slaughter: a raided village rebuilds, but a taxed village feeds. She fashioned a brood—drakes and mortals bound by cold promise—and set about freezing a kingdom under aurora.
