A single bark can echo like a song—soft, melodic, and gone before you can find the source. Lirael, a blink dog of rare size and swiftness, roams the border between the Material Plane and the Feywild, guarding ancient fey roads and guiding the lost to safety… if it deems them worthy.
Role in Its Society:
Blink dogs are communal pack-dwellers, but Lirael acts as a lone guardian, ranging far from its kin to patrol the hidden crossroads of the savanna. Trusted by seelie courts and druids alike, it is both a messenger and a sentinel, appearing at critical moments to change the course of events. Though it often works alone, it can summon its pack with a thought if the danger warrants it.
Appearance Description:
Lirael resembles a lean, midnight-coated hound with intelligent yellow eyes and a faint shimmer to its fur. When it teleports, its body ripples with silver motes that scatter like dandelion seeds in the wind. Its movements are impossibly smooth, more like a dancer’s than a predator’s.
Backstory:
Born beneath a rare triple moon, Lirael was gifted to a Feywild court as a pup. Trained in both pursuit and diplomacy, it became a trusted envoy, bearing messages through dangerous lands. When its court fell to internal treachery, Lirael chose self-exile, swearing to safeguard the ancient ley paths from all who would exploit them.
