Luma — Festival Steward

Luma — Festival Steward

“Joy’s a craft—trim the wick, set the beat, and warm the night together.”

Rich

Name: Luma
Race: Halfling
Role: : Festival Steward & Revel Planner (civic events captain; crowd-safety marshal)
Appearance: Luma is a brisk, round-cheeked halfling with bright hazel eyes, a quick smile, and wind-rosy skin. Curly auburn hair is bundled under a felt cap pinned with lantern charms and ribbon rosettes. She layers a quilted vest and wool skirts beneath a seal-lined show cloak, its inside stitched with pockets for cues, chalk, and fuses. Fingerless gloves reveal ink and paint stains; a conductor’s baton doubles as a short rod. A cross-body satchel carries lantern mantles, flare pots, and folded festival permits. When she moves, bells sewn into her sash chime a soft count—her private metronome.

Backstory

Born to a caravan troupe that wintered along the edge of the Brackish Brinelands, Luma learned that a good festival is part logistics, part lullaby. Years ago, a night market crush in Frosthold left people hurt and frightened; Luma stayed and rebuilt the town’s winter revels from the ground up. From the Festival Yard & Lantern Depot she drafts routes with Vedra’s lamp grid, coordinates with Brinya to avoid after-curfew choke points, schedules Father Halvor’s rites between warm-up acts, and briefs Varrik on crowd flows near the Lakeshore Watchtower. She works closely with Neris to place mirrored snow-lanterns and with Pesha to keep street braziers safe. Luma’s rule: joy is only real if everybody gets home warm.
