Backstory
After the rockslide that claimed her family in Sorrowind Pass, Mairen apprenticed to a Veilhaven “phantom lantern” artisan, learning how scent, hue, and flame steady shaken hearts. She specializes in remembrance lights—candles blended with herbs, river-salt, and beeswax that burn with a steady, low smoke to calm nightmares. She keeps names in a vellum “Book of Motes,” one mote for each memory entrusted to her flame. She’s respected by night watch and smugglers alike for setting beacon-codes in the fogged streets when storms roll in.
