Mossmother Cricktooth - The Green Hag
In the dripping heart of the Brackish Brineland’s oldest grove, where the canopy chokes out the sun, there lives a thing of twisted roots and cruel laughter.
Mossmother Cricktooth, a green hag whose very breath smells of rot, weaves lies as easily as vines. She is a storyteller, a poisoner, and a collector of the lost—especially those foolish enough to bargain with her.
Role in Its Society:
Their covens notwithstanding, Hags thrive in isolation. But Mossmother keeps a network of spies in the form of bewitched woodland beasts and charmed wanderers. She trades favors among other fey and monstrous beings, often pitting rivals against each other for her amusement. While she lives alone, her influence stretches across the brineland's hidden paths and into nearby villages through whispered promises and curses.
Appearance Description:
Mossmother’s body is stooped and gnarled, her green-gray skin cracked like old bark and smeared with wet moss. Her hair hangs in tangled ropes, crawling with tiny insects, and her yellow eyes gleam from deep sockets. Her mouth—too wide, too full of crooked teeth—splits into a grin that seems to stretch her whole face. She dresses in a patchwork robe of scavenged hides and living plants, its hem dripping with swamp water.

Backstory:
Once a mortal herbalist, Cricktooth betrayed her village to a passing fey court in exchange for beauty and power. The fey granted her wish—but twisted it, remaking her into a green hag whose beauty was only visible to herself. She has since embraced her monstrous form, luring travelers with illusions of warmth and hospitality, only to ensnare them in her bargains or her claws.
