Appearance: Mother Umbrisa is tall for a drow, her frame wrapped in flowing robes of moss, spider silk, and living bark. Pale white hair flows down her back, woven with thorny vines and tiny glowing mushrooms. Her eyes are a murky gold-green, unfocused as if always watching something far beyond the present. Her voice is calm, whisper-soft, and echoes unnaturally when she speaks within her grove. A pulsing, rootlike scar spirals down her neck—an outward sign of her bond with something buried beneath Nightshade Thicket.
Backstory
Umbrisa was once a wandering surface-drow healer who sought solace in the deep forests after years of being hunted and distrusted. But in Nightshade Thicket, she found more than silence—she found something waiting. The Old Grove, a fungal-thorn intelligence rooted in ancient druidic decay, called to her. She answered.
Now, she leads a sect known as The Cultivated Path, preaching acceptance of entropy, symbiosis, and the sacred balance of death and rebirth. Her cult offers shelter, healing, and purpose to those broken by the world… before binding them into something new. Some say she’s no longer fully alive. Others say she’s the Grove’s first blooming.
