Name: Old Wetha Brineborn
Race: Human
Role/Class: Bog-Seer / Dreambound Oracle
Appearance: Old Wetha Brineborn appears impossibly old, her age written not in years but in exposure. Her skin is darkened and creased like cured peat, her hands knotted with swollen joints stained green-brown from constant contact with marsh water. Wisps of white hair cling stubbornly to her scalp, often braided with reed twine, teeth, and bits of glass polished smooth by the tide.

Her eyes are clouded and milky, yet they track movement unnervingly well. She dresses in layered robes of rotted linen and eel-hide cloaks, each piece patched with symbols scratched rather than sewn. A faint scent of marsh-smoke and bitter herbs follows her, and insects rarely land on her skin—as if warned away.

Wetha carries a crooked bog-staff topped with hanging charms that click softly even when there is no wind.

Backstory

No one knows where Wetha came from—or when she became Old. She simply emerged one season after a flood that swallowed three hamlets. Survivors reported dreams of a woman standing knee-deep in water, whispering names that later appeared carved into driftwood upriver.

Wetha claims the marsh speaks to her only when she sleeps. Her prophecies are fragmented, tangled with metaphor and contradiction, often dismissed as rambling until events begin aligning with disturbing accuracy. She does not predict outcomes—she describes pressures, choices narrowing like channels before a flood.

She believes the Brackish Brinelands are not alive, but remembering. And memory, she insists, always demands a price.
