Skyrend - The Wyvern

Skyrend - The Wyvern

A screaming shadow of wing and venom that turns open sky into a killing ground.

Role in Its Society:

Skyrend is not a beast that occupies territory—she dominates routes. Mountain passes, cliff roads, high bridges, and exposed causeways become lethal not because she blocks them, but because she hunts them from above. Merchants speak of sudden silence, broken wagons at the base of cliffs, and bodies found pierced and half-dissolved by venom. Where Skyrend lairs, trade slows, patrols double, and travelers hug stone walls with white knuckles. She doesn’t need followers. Gravity and fear do the work for her.

Appearance Description:

Skyrend is a sleek, brutal predator—long-necked and narrow-bodied, built for speed rather than bulk. Her scales are slate-black streaked with iron-gray, dull enough to vanish against cloud and cliff shadow. Her wings are vast and scarred, membranes torn and re-healed into jagged edges that whistle when she dives. A hooked beak filled with needle teeth juts forward from a horned skull, and her barbed tail ends in a heavy venom stinger stained dark from repeated kills. Her eyes are sharp amber, always searching, always measuring distance and wind.

Backstory:

Skyrend hatched high on a knife-edge ridge where prey was scarce and mistakes meant death. She survived by learning the air—drafts, thermals, the way panic makes creatures run in straight lines. Over time, she learned something more valuable than strength: timing.

She does not attack camps at night or fortified keeps at dawn. She strikes when travelers are tired, when mules stumble, when one bad scream will send the rest scattering toward the cliff edge. The bodies she leaves behind are not trophies. They are warnings etched into stone far below.
