Vella Mournfin – Eel-Hunter / Marsh Stalker
“The marsh always feeds something. I just make sure it isn’t me.”
Name: Vella Mournfin
Race: Half-Elf
Role/Class: Eel-Hunter / Marsh Stalker
Appearance: Vella Mournfin is tall and powerfully built, her physique shaped by hauling nets heavy with writhing eels and dragging carcasses from sucking mud. Her skin bears a pale, almost bluish cast from long exposure to cold water, and faint scar-webs mark her arms and neck—eel bites, blade wounds, and something with too many teeth.
Her hair is long, black, and usually slicked back with marsh oil, keeping it out of her eyes when submerged. Her most striking feature is her gaze: dark, flat, and utterly unreadable. She wears layered hide armor stitched with eel-skin strips that gleam faintly when wet. Bone hooks, barbed knives, and weighted nets hang from her belt, each tool placed with deliberate precision.
A long, crescent-bladed spear—its shaft wrapped in cured sinew—never leaves her side.

Backstory
Vella was born to the estuary’s margins, raised among fishers who measured worth by what you brought back at day’s end. When her village suffered a lean season and starvation loomed, Vella volunteered to hunt deeper channels long believed cursed. She returned with eels thicker than a man’s thigh—and stories she never finished telling.
From that season onward, Vella never returned empty-handed.
She learned the habits of swamp predators by watching them kill. She adopted their patience, their cruelty, and their refusal to waste energy. Over time, villages stopped asking how she hunted and focused instead on what she brought back.
Vella believes survival is a contract enforced by blood. She honors deals absolutely—but mercy, to her, is a luxury the marsh punishes.
