Amu-Rekhet - The Mummy

Amu-Rekhet - The Mummy

She speaks no lies—only truths the world should never hear. And when she opens her mouth, kingdoms crumble.

Role in Its Society:

Amu-Rekhet was once the high oracle of an ancient solar cult, a revered seeress whose visions shaped empires. But when she prophesied the fall of her own dynasty, the priest-kings she served had her entombed alive, her tongue severed and replaced with a gold serpent idol.

She was meant to rot beneath the dunes in silence. But she did not rot. She remembers everything—and now, she walks again, bringing the plagues of prophecy to any land foolish enough to unseal her tomb.

Worshipped by fringe death cults and feared by historians, she is not just undead. She is inevitable.

Appearance Description:

Amu-Rekhet is regal and terrifying, her desiccated form draped in ceremonial linen stitched with prophecy glyphs, her wrappings soaked with ancient myrrh and cursed ink. Her face is obscured by a cracked golden funerary mask, beneath which faint light flickers through empty sockets.

Her left hand bears fingers sharpened into gold-tipped claws. Instead of a tongue, a writhing gold serpent curls in her throat, occasionally emerging to whisper.

Backstory:

Amu-Rekhet served as Speaker of the Sun’s Shadow in the lost desert kingdom of Zhal-Amun, a place long since buried under cursed sands. When she foresaw the downfall of the dynasty and dared speak of it, she was silenced—not just politically, but ritually.

Sealed beneath the Obsidian Maw, her tomb was meant to contain her foresight. But the failings of mortals have only proven her right. As war, famine, and magic collapse ripple across the land, her prophecies unravel like gauze... and her curse awakens alongside them.
