Kael Thorne - The Wraith
If you see black fire drifting above a battlefield, turn around. That’s not smoke. That’s him.
Role in Its Society:
Kael Thorne was once a general of righteous cause, a crusader who sought to end undeath by purging the world with divine fire. But the artifact he used to seal a necropolis instead unmade him—his soul burned so hot, it evaporated from his body and left behind a vengeful void.
Now a Wraith, Kael drifts above war-torn fields and cursed ruins, drawn to places where faith and blood have failed. He sees the living not as enemies, but as fuel—embers waiting to be consumed. Where he walks, warmth dies, and hope is a memory.
Appearance Description:
A ragged silhouette of dark, burning mist. Kael’s form flickers with the memory of armor—shoulder plates and a tattered tabard trailing behind him like smoke. His face is a hollow void, but a faint crown of black flame flickers above where his head should be. Occasionally, his sword—long vanished—flickers into view as a wraith-like projection, used only in death-dealing strikes.

Backstory:
Kael Thorne was once the bearer of the Ember Halo, a relic said to judge the undead and smite them into ash. But its final activation came at a terrible cost: it ripped Kael’s soul from his body, annihilating the living around him and leaving a scorched crater of bones and armor.
The divine spark became corrupted, anchoring Kael to this world not as a beacon, but as a dark parody of martyrdom. Now, he raises specters from those he slays and seeks out relics to extinguish light itself, one bastion of hope at a time.
