Sathrix - The Arcanaloth

Sathrix - The Arcanaloth

“Wars are not won by blades or blood. They are won by clauses… and by knowing which ones you’ll never read.”

Role in Its Society:

Sathrix, 'The Ledgered Flame', is an infernal strategist, one of the yugoloths tasked not with conquest, but with optimization. Where devils rule through hierarchy and demons through chaos, arcanaloths rule through information asymmetry. Sathrix exists to calculate outcomes, broker conflicts, and ensure that suffering yields maximum return.

In the Lower Planes, Sathrix is a broker of war contracts, soul leases, and arcane services. Devils hire him when precision is required. Demons unknowingly benefit from his manipulations when chaos aligns with his projections. Mortals encounter his influence through mercenary armies, cursed spellbooks, or treaties that seem beneficial—until the fine print matures.

To other yugoloths, Sathrix is respected and quietly feared. He does not raise his voice, boast, or threaten. He merely documents—and ensures the ledger always balances in his favor.

Appearance Description:

Sathrix appears as a tall, jackal-headed humanoid with sleek obsidian-black fur and long, sharply attentive ears that twitch at every whisper of magic. His eyes glow with amethyst light, pupils etched with rotating infernal sigils that never stop calculating. His muzzle bears a permanent, knowing half-smile.

He dresses in layered arcane robes of deep violet and burnished gold, embroidered with moving runes and contractual glyphs that shift as he speaks. Scrolls, quills, and arcane seals float lazily around him, suspended by telekinetic force. Violet flame curls from his hands when he casts, never burning unless commanded.

Behind him often hangs a faint, circular arcane diagram—like a halo made of equations and sigils—representing the constantly updating calculations of fate, probability, and damnation.

Backstory:

Sathrix was once assigned to a minor planar skirmish meant to exhaust two rival powers. Instead, he rewrote the terms of engagement so efficiently that both sides collapsed into economic ruin within a year. His superiors reprimanded him—not for failure, but for efficiency that attracted attention.

Since then, Sathrix has specialized in long games. He seeds wars decades in advance, introduces artifacts that destabilize magical economies, and engineers conflicts that appear organic. Entire bloodlines have fallen because Sathrix ensured a single clause was misunderstood generations earlier.

Unlike many fiends, Sathrix harbors no love for cruelty. Pain is merely a variable. What matters is leverage—and leverage is eternal.
