Sunken Vision Pool

Sunken Vision Pool

Sunken Vision Pool is a mirror-still bog hollow where the water lies unnaturally calm.

Rich

An oval of pale teal glass cradled by rock-strewn mud, leaning reeds, and half-submerged branches that claw up from the shallows. Lily pads drift like scattered coins across the surface, and clusters of crimson marsh blossoms cling to the edges as if the wetland itself is dressing the pool for a ritual. Strung along the upper bank, hanging charms and lantern-lit lines frame the water like a quiet warning: this is not a place you simply pass through.

At night—or in the wrong kind of silence—wisps of marshfire skate across the pool, gliding just above the surface in lazy arcs that cast shifting reflections. The air feels crowded with presence, and faint whispers thread through the reeds, sometimes sounding like distant voices, sometimes like your own thoughts spoken back at you. Submerged roots turn the shallows into a snare of hidden resistance, tugging at boots and breaking clean movement into hesitant steps—perfect for a battlefield where footing, fear, and attention are constantly contested.

Intended Use:

This map is built for eerie, story-forward encounters: prophetic rituals interrupted, negotiations with swamp mystics, or fights that become psychological as much as physical. The pool’s reflective surface and drifting marshfire create a natural “spotlight” effect—characters are seen, silhouetted, and misread—while the surrounding reeds and rocks provide tight cover pockets and ambush angles. It’s especially strong for encounters where the party must protect (or disrupt) a rite, hold a perimeter, or keep enemies from reaching the water’s center.
