Velvrax serves—if not exactly willingly—as the animated executioner of a forgotten noble bloodline. Once a royal heirloom woven with soul-binding threads, it now dwells in the crumbling estate of the Crimson Mantle, activated by intruders and whispered commands. Though mute and mindless to most, those attuned to the arcane feel a pressure of ancient hatred within its fibers.
Appearance Description:
Velvrax appears as a stunning crimson rug embroidered with gold filigree and deep black sigils along the borders—arcane patterns that twist slightly when no one is looking. When dormant, it lays flat and flawless. When active, it twists violently, its fabric hardening and tightening like constricting muscle. Its threads pulse slightly, as if something stirs within. A faint scent of rosewater and old blood clings to it.
Backstory:
Velvrax was woven centuries ago by a royal warlock for House Thalren, a noble family in Highcrest known for secretive magic. The warlock used soul-tethering to embed the psychic residue of an executed traitor into the weave. This animating force—half vengeance, half programming—gave rise to Velvrax’s deadly instincts.
After the fall of House Thalren, Velvrax remained behind, dormant in their manor’s ruins. Cultists, warlocks, or squabbling nobles have occasionally tried to claim it… few succeeded.
Now, Velvrax waits silently in the gallery of Thalren Hold, ready to embrace intruders with deadly purpose.
