Voramir Deyne - The Lich

Voramir Deyne - The Lich

His eyes are cinders, and his voice is a wound. He doesn’t raise the dead—he calls them home.

Role in Its Society:

Voramir Deyne is a self-made wound in the weave of life and death. Once a revered healer and divine scholar of the Verdant Temple in Eldervast, he sought to conquer mortality—not for power, but so no one would have to die again. His failure was absolute. Now, he lingers as a lich—not with ambition, but with purpose: to undo the wound of loss, even if it means unraveling the gods’ design.

He doesn’t rule an empire or command undead legions. He waits in a hollow tower surrounded by time-frozen victims—not prisoners, but preserved moments. He is studied, eloquent, and utterly without mercy for those who would deny his purpose.

Appearance Description:

Tall and wrapped in tattered sage’s robes embroidered with celestial sigils, Voramir’s form is calcified grief—his flesh shrunken and cracked like old bark. His left hand is missing, replaced by a lattice of floating bones held together with blacklight magic. Behind his skeletal brow, his eyes burn not with hatred, but sorrow. His phylactery is embedded in his chest: a shriveled black seed encased in silver root-veins.

Backstory:

Once the High Healer of the Verdant Temple, Voramir was beloved across Eldervast for his unerring devotion and miraculous restorations. But when a magical plague claimed his daughter and half his city, he turned from the gods—not in anger, but in despair. He sought knowledge in the forbidden vaults of Emberfall and Gloomshade’s dead libraries.

He did not become a lich to live forever. He became one to stop death from claiming others. But the ritual unraveled his soul, and what remained was a guardian of stillness—a being convinced that the only peace is in preservation.
